The Real Techniques brush line was launched in 2011 by Samantha and Nicola Chapman. Samantha first started her YouTube channel, Pixiwoo, which gained a strong social media presence with 30,000 subscribers by 2010. Growing up, the founders were surrounded by makeup and their environment exposed them to the creative beauty industry which they grew to love and would choose as their careers. As makeup artists, they saw the importance of the right tools to create perfect looks, and that was how the idea to collaborate to create the product was formed.
