バンタンデザイン研究所ファッション学部3年制を卒業。在学中に二年間、コレクションブランドで働く。卒業後コレクションブランドでパタンナーを3年間務め、その後イギリスのロンドンへ留学し、帰国後ブランドをスタート。
日本人が持つ感性を主軸とし、建築物や自然物や人の感情など様々な物からインスピレーションを受け、服が持つ可能性を追求していく。
Brand concept
全ての物は自然に由来し、退廃し、また自然に帰する。儚い物が美しいとする日本人古来の情緒的な美意識の再認識、再定義を根底に置いた物作りをしています。
Designer Yohji Yanagisawa
Graduated from Vantan Design Institute, Three Year Fashion School. While at school, started working for a famous collection brand and worked there for two years. After graduation, worked as patternmaker for three years. Studied in London for one year, and upon returning to Japan, started up his own brand, Yohji Yanagiswa.
His motto is to pursue the possibility of clothing, inspired from architecture, nature and human emotion, with principal ax on traditional Japanese sensitivity,
Brand concept
Everything derives from nature. Then collapses, and goes back to nature.
Our brand concept is to recognize and redefine the ancient Japanese emotional sense of beauty, which is to respect the beauty of evanescence.
